Pallazzo Reale

Today was our first whole day with Julie, so we decided to go to the Pallazzo Reale (royal palace). Inside this palace there were many museums (sorry, no photos allowed), but we decided to visit three. They were the palace museum (generic, I know), the royal armory, and the Sabauda Gallery. We started by visiting the palace museum. There were so many intricately decorated everything, we saw carved floors and painted ceilings, imitations of Chinese art, and a grand throne room. There was a room that was all the gifts given to the royal family that had once lived there, it was really cool. After we finished with the palace stuff, we went to the armory, which also included weapons, my little brother Griffin LOVED this. A huge hall loaded with fully armored horses and knights, next to cabinet after cabinet of swords, guns, bayonets, axes, every known kind of weapon. It was pretty cool though. After we got through that area we went outside and saw the remains of a roman theatre, that they only discovered during renovations in 1899. It was probably my favorite thing there. After we walked past that, we walked through a set of glass doors into an art gallery. There were so many beautiful paintings and sculptures, many by famous artists, just there lesser known works. there was stuff in there as old as the mid 1300s, it was a fantastic collection. After we left that we were really hungry (it was two and we hadn't had lunch) so we decided to go to the gelato shop around the corner from our house, we went there once before. It is supposed to be one of the best gelato shops in the area, it was called Alberto Marchetti Gelatteria. When we got home, Mom and Julie went shopping for a while and we hung out and played some games. They got home soon and a little while after the owners of the flat we are staying in came by to get some things to take to their country home. We talked for a while and then they left. We played some more games with everyone and eventually decided to go to dinner. We went to dinner at the same pizzeria (Piano B pizzeria) we went to on our first night here. It was really good. When we got home we put Griffin to bed and hung out for a while and I took a shower (really cold!!!)and then went to type this up. I'll post again tomorrow.
